FILM MUSIC

Music has been essential in the world of cinema since the very beginnings.

Before we could listen to dialogues in movies, the music in silent films already taught us to understand any scene, by transmitting feelings, emotions, conversations, etc. An example is this scene from "The Great Dictator" by Charles Chaplin.

Over time, the composition of music and sounds for cinema has been refined even further, being able to reproduce special effects, sometimes with instruments and sometimes with strange objects.

During the history of cinema we can highlight many musicians who have dedicated themselves almost exclusively to this world and who have become great composers of great pieces, such as:

Ennio Morricone, he was an Italian composer who produced more than 500 film and television soundtracks, such as : The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, The Mission or Cinema Paradiso.

Hans Zimmer, this German musician is the genius behind the soundtracks of Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lion King, Gladiator or Batman, The Dark Knight.

John Williams, is the creator of the music of science fiction movies that have been a turning point in the history of cinema: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, the Indiana Jones saga, Harry Potter and Shark.

Alberto Iglesias, the Spanish composer has won many awards around the world with soundtracks such as: Volver, The Constant Gardener, The Kite Runner and Dolor y gloria.

As you can see, these are just some of the best composers of the original soundtracks that have set your cinema sessions.

Now you have to watch this movie, "Les Choristes".

This film, in addition to having a wonderful soundtrack, tries to transmit the value of music in education, and help people grow up and become better human beings:

Once you have watched it, I would want you to explain if you agree  or disagree with this idea about the importance of music in education. Send your analysis together with the exercise that I explain below my email.
