World Dances
Dance is the only art where our bodies are the material from which it is made. The dance and the music are the most authentic expression of a culture.
So here is the list of some of the most famous dances around the world, except for flamenco, which we have already talked about before and is our most representative dance internationally.
BELLY DANCE (INDIA)
The term "belly dance" is not the best, because every part of the body is involved in the dance. The most prominent part of the body in this dance is the hips. Basically it was originated in the Middle East.
Salsa is a rooted dance genre from Cuba. Salsa is a normal couple dance, although it recognizes the solo forms, it’s a dance that represents very well the warmth and sensuality of Latin America.
BREAK DANCE (USA)
Break-dance incorporates many types of movements that can vary as much as the imagination and athletics allow it. The number of dance moves is wide, and there are competitions around the world.
IRISH DANCE (IRELAND)
Originally from Ireland, this interesting dance is usually done in groups. It is generally characterized by an upright upper body and fast and precise foot movements.
A line dance is a choreography with a repeated sequence of steps in which a group of people dance in one or more lines, all in the same direction and all executing the moves at the same time.
ADUMU (KENYA AND TANZANIA)
For the Maasai tribe men, adumu ("the dance of the jump") is part of a ceremony of the passage from childhood to adulthood. They will be considered stronger (and attractive) the higher they jump. The men form a semicircle and they all jump as high as they can, without their heels touching the ground, encouraged by the cheers of their teammates.

The Viennese waltz is often considered a competition ballroom dance and knowing how to dance it comes in handy to surprise guests at a formal celebration. It is an elegant dance and it seems that the dancing partner is light and moves around the room almost floating.
Haka is a Maori war dance that was traditionally practiced on the battlefield to demonstrate strength, courage, and the unity of the tribe to the opponent. It is part of this choreography to strike hard with the feet, stick out thevtongue, and rhythmically clap the body to accompany a strong song that tells about the history of the tribe and its ancestors.
CLAQUÉ (UNITED STATES)
Also known as tap, this dance is characterized by the sound made by the metal plates that are attached to the heels and tips of the shoes. When the dancers move their feet and knock them on the ground, these plates make sounds that accompany the dance.

Cumbia is a mixture of indigenous American peoples and African slaves folk dances with European influence. It stands out especially for the big hip movements of the woman and her short steps, while her partner dances around her.
The strong hip movements and the technique of these choreographies are the main characteristic of this traditional Tahitian dance. The dancers are dressed in flower or vegetable fiber skirts, headdresses and the typical flower necklaces.
